Ian Bashforth
DIRECTOR
Forward-looking, diverse-thinking, consistent and always challenging, Ian has been at the helm of T&G for over 30 years and a leading figure within the local construction industry during the same period. His present role encompasses both external client relationships and strategic business development alongside internal organisational direction and performance, which includes long-term talent strategy and succession planning.
Ian’s engineering and contracting practice spans numerous projects, including many multi-million-pound and high-profile developments. His leadership and company direction experience has helped drive the advancement of T&G, especially its high-tech approach to design and its highly successful talent recruitment and development programme.
From an industry perspective, Ian was a founding director of the Jersey Construction Council (JeCC), past chairman of the Jersey Federation of Consulting Engineers (JFCE), director on the board of Training and Education, member of the IOD Trade & Industry Board and member of the Abbeyfield (Jersey) Executive Committee.
Ian is an incorporated Engineer – Engineering Council, a member of the Institute of Civil Engineers and Associate Member of the Institute of Structural Engineers. After training in draughtsmanship, technical design and engineering, he joined Jersey-based Thomas & Griffiths, becoming associate director and then shareholding director before creating T&G and stepping into the role of director and chairman of both its Jersey and Guernsey operations.

Jonathan Moffett
MANAGING DIRECTOR, JERSEY
Highly respected in professional engineering and company director circles, Jonathan has been a key member of the T&G team since 2007, and its managing director since 2016. While remaining strongly committed to client work, his responsibilities also cover organisational direction, development and governance.
A Chartered Civil Engineer possessing extensive experience in this field, Jonathan’s technical expertise also spans structural engineering, with numerous high-profile construction projects against his name. The contract values of these range from £3 million to £30 million, with Jonathan leading both commercial and technical elements of the engagements.
From a company management perspective, Jonathan has been instrumental in helping T&G through considerable challenges and change, without losing sight of the organisation’s commitment to client satisfaction and staff development. Ever future focused, his role has included fostering talent and forming relationships essential for ongoing organisational success.
After studying at Queen’s University Belfast, Jonathan’s career before T&G took him initially to the Caribbean and then to Jersey where he joined Dandara as its Structural Engineering Manager. He is also a Licensed Certifier of Building Structures (SER) and member of the Jersey Construction Council, previously serving on its board and as its treasurer.

Gary Bougourd
MANAGING DIRECTOR, GUERNSEY
Gary has over 40 years of engineering experience and has been actively involved in structural and civil engineering projects all over Guernsey, from small domestic to large commercial works. As Managing Director, Gary is the driving force of the Guernsey office.
Marcus Taylor
DIRECTOR
Marcus has been an integral element of the T&G narrative since 2005, both technically through his accomplished engineering expertise and experience, and corporately in his role as Associate Director and then Director. Among many responsibilities, he has taken special charge of driving development of the company’s systems during that time, ensuring T&G retains its competitive technology edge.
As senior structural technician, Marcus leads engineering design work on some of T&G’s largest projects, employing both commercial and technical skills to ensure quality delivery of often complex client requirements. Stepping into director shoes sees him contributing to company development, which includes important relationship management with key suppliers and partners, and ensuring organisational performance meets short- and long-term corporate expectations.
A career spanning four decades provides exceptional experience across an extensive portfolio of construction industry sectors at local, national and international level. From domestic to defence, his work covers both above ground and subterranean. During his career at T&G, Marcus has practiced widely in both civil and structural engineering projects, and turned his hand to engagements with commercial, healthcare, heritage, education and residential clients.
Hailing from the south of England, Marcus gained an ONC in Building Studies from the Crawley College of Technology and holds C&G Drawing & Design, C&G 3D Drawing & Design and C&G Customisation & Management qualifications.

Tom McCarthy
DIRECTOR
Profile
An experienced and committed professional engineer coupled with a passion for organisational management and strategic development, Tom’s role and responsibilities at T&G encompass both managing its engineering design work and setting and delivering company plans and direction.
As a highly competent civil and structural engineer with over 12 years of practical experience, he oversees the work of T&G’s engineering team, focusing on excellence in design and quality delivery. Tom will also take the lead on his own projects, which can range from small refurbishments to large-scale new-build retail, residential, leisure and office developments.
As director at T&G he works with fellow senior management team members across a range of organisational planning, development and governance activities. These include competitive positioning, client relationships, system and process development, talent management and regulatory compliance and reporting.
Tom’s career to date has presented an extensive and wide range of challenging engineering engagements across a variety of industry sectors. This includes education, where he has been responsible for both extensions to existing schools and sensitive refurbishment of historic educational estate. He has worked on specific heritage developments including the conversion of listed farm buildings into contemporary dwellings. And been involved in several significant residential developments, including some of the largest carried out in Jersey.
Tom graduated from the University of Leeds in 2010 with a Master’s Degree in Civil and Structural Engineering and went on to qualify as a Chartered Engineer with the IStructE in October 2019.

Alex Farrow
ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR
Profile
A versatile and highly experienced engineering professional, Alex presently specialises in building structural surveys for property purchases and diagnosing structural problems with existing properties. He takes responsibility for planning and implementing any necessary remedial work including crack repairs and concrete degradation. And works closely with local specialists assessing the structural feasibility of installing green energy technology (such as photo-voltaic panels) on existing structures. Alongside his essential engineering work, Alex contributes to T&G’s organisational management and development through his important role as associate director.
Two decades of working in the construction industry endows Alex with a wide range of experience in both civil and structural engineering fields. His expertise encompasses all aspects of construction project management including functional elements such as design conception, feasibility, design, drafting and implementation, and critical soft skills such as effective communications between parties and progress reporting to ensure client satisfaction.
Building on this experience, Alex’s present role at T&G requires a range of complementary specialised knowledge and skills. These include taking on sensitive engagements within development projects associated with listed buildings, which requires working sympathetically to both preserve important historical features while also delivering stunning results for clients.
Alex’s projects range from small-scale domestic construction work to multi-billion-dollar civil engineering projects. After graduating from Exeter University with a BEng (Hons) in Civil Engineering, he has gained extensive experience through working in Jersey, London and Australia, including time spent as a maritime engineer.

Cátia Caetano
ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR
Completing her master’s degree at the University of Madeira, Cátia moved to Jersey and started work at T&G in February 2014. Working within teams for larger projects, she also runs her own projects. Cátia is keen to advance her career and is currently working towards chartership of the ICE.

Lee Saxon
ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR
Lee’s extensive construction industry experience and accomplished structural and civil engineering expertise place him as a highly valuable and versatile member of the T&G team. His crucial role in the company involves managing assigned projects, organising internal resources and ensuring client satisfaction through timely delivery of designs and accurate reporting of progress. As associate director, Lee also has responsibilities for overall company performance and development.
Alongside structural and civil engineering capabilities, Lee’s role requires advanced planning, organisational and implementation skills, strong communication techniques and commitment to quality management. He is also highly familiar with the latest design and modelling software, including AutoCAD, and Revit used to create detailed 3D designs and track various stages in a building’s lifecycle.
His career at T&G has provided Lee with considerable industry experience, working on numerous client projects ranging from small house extensions up to large-scale multi-million-pound developments. As well as managing his own projects, he also mentors the company’s technical team. Most importantly, Lee holds the vital responsibility of being T&G’s ‘social secretary and events manager’.
Lee studied locally at Highlands College Jersey to gain a HNC in Building Studies and National Certificate in Construction. He went on to become a professionally qualified engineering technician (EngTech) and is a member of the Institute of Civil Engineers.

Nicole Wood
STRUCTURAL ENGINEER
Practically minded and curiously creative, Nicole brings highly valued engineering skills and a welcome challenging outlook to the team at T&G. Time spent studying and working in the field of architecture at home in her native South Africa has provided an enlightening fresh perspective on engineering – always much appreciated by colleagues.
Nicole’s role as a structural engineer involves her in specialist designing, planning and overseeing the implementation of client projects. She particularly enjoys working with the advanced systems employed by T&G including AutoCAD, 3D modelling applications such as Rivet which is also used as a building information modelling (BIM) tool and expert virtual reality solutions.
Since joining T&G in 2019 after moving to Jersey, Nicole’s portfolio of completed developments has grown to encompass a wide range of construction projects, from small residential renovations through to large scale framed buildings. Her impressive breadth of experience gained during this time extends to working with a variety of different structural approaches and materials. Nicole also leads on T&G’s commitment to the Design Engineer Construct (DEC) programme through which pupils at Island schools learn about and have the opportunity to engage with the local construction industry.
Nicole holds a BSc in Architecture from the University of Pretoria in South Africa. After discovering engineering better suited her practical nature, she went on to gain a BEng in Civil Engineering from the same institution. Since starting with T&G, Nicole has diligently applied herself to become a Graduate Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers (GMICE).

Zac Pallot
STRUCTURAL ENGINEER
Zac completed his Civil Engineering degree in 2018 from the University of Exeter and followed with a Masters in Structural Engineering the next academic year. This allowed him to learn more about the field of engineering that most interests him.
At work, Zac is enthusiastic about being set a challenge, finding solutions to complex issues, and always learning. His end goal is to become a Charted Engineer with the support and guidance from T&G. In his spare time, he is an avid sports fan regularly playing football and golf, which he played competitively for the island and La Moye Golf Club.

Andrew Bate
REVIT TECHNICIAN
Profile
An experienced and highly proficient technician, Andrew has become an integral member of the T&G team since joining in 2014. His primary responsibilities involve creating accurate, highly detailed 2D and 3D models of buildings, structures and the mechanical systems used for architectural, engineering and construction purposes.
Andrew’s proven expertise includes advanced capabilities with industry-leading design and modelling software applications. These include AutoCAD, which produces 2D and 3D computer-aided designs, and Revit, a building information modelling system that allows users to create highly detailed 3D designs and track various stages in a building’s lifecycle. Andew is also a competent BIM technician.
A career with T&G has allowed opportunities to develop, employ and hone skills and knowledge across a wide range of projects, focusing on both civil and structural engineering. Among these are small domestic projects such as extensions and conversions, and large-scale construction initiatives including retail and housing developments.
Ever the learner, Andrew studied geology at Royal Holloway University before starting work with a company specialising in small construction projects. He continued to study, gaining a BEng (Hons) in Engineering from the Open University to crown other construction related qualifications including a HNC in Building Studies and National Certificate in Construction from Highlands College, Jersey. Andrew has since become a professionally qualified engineering technician with the Institute of Engineers (ICE).

Jake Cherrington-Hall
REVIT TECHNICIAN
Jake joined T&G limited in 2015 following his college studies. He was soon recognised as a keen and creative individual, who immersed himself in innovative new 3D visualization software, producing construction details, virtual walkthroughs and high end rendered graphics. His enjoyment in this area is evident as he strives to stay relevant with the latest technology in construction, often informing colleagues of the latest in technological advances.

Julie Gratrix
SENIOR ADMINISTRATOR
With over 20 years at T&G Limited, Julie has progressed through the company’s administration department to become Company Secretary of the T&G group of companies. With extensive training in the use of accounting software, Julie ensures that the financial side of the business is in good order, allowing the Shareholders to keep reinvesting to the benefit of the team and its clients.
Chantelle Gowers
ADMINISTRATOR & RECEPTIONIST
Chantelle has worked at T&G’s front desk since March 2016. Along with being the first point of contact for clients, she is also a key member of the administration team. Chantelle is also our Eco Captain, encouraging the rest of the office to Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!

Gil has over 13 years of experience with T & G Structural Engineers and is responsible for the accounts and administration of the company.

Adam Godwin
REVIT TECHNICIAN
Following completion of his ONC, Adam continues to further his academic qualifications as he progresses towards his HNC. Since he started in 2018, Adam has confidently taken on more technical drafting and has moved from AutoCAD to be a proficient Revit technician.
Leonie Allez
REVIT TECHNICIAN
Leonie joined T&G as a Trainee Technician in the summer of 2019 following completion of her A-Levels. Leonie quickly became conversant with drafting in the 2D AutoCAD environment, and is now progressing into 3D modelling using Revit. Following her successful completion of her ONC, she continues he academic qualifications on day release as she works towards her HNC at the Guernsey College of Further Education.
Sabrina Kaines
TRAINEE STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN
Strongly committed to engineering excellence and always professional in execution, Sabrina joined T&G in October 2022 after completing her studies. Her focus is on developing and enhancing engineering and design competence through both internal training and support, and personal involvement in projects both small and large.
Sabrina is working to become highly proficient in the AutoCAD software application, which is used to create advanced digital engineering drawings. Her present role involves producing precision 2D technical drawings in support of colleagues who use to complete full designs with all necessary details.
Since joining the organisation, she has had the opportunity to employ her developing skills through work on several projects, focused mainly on smaller-scale residential extensions but also embracing the chance to work with colleagues and contribute towards larger developments. Her portfolio includes both civil and structural engineering contracts.
Sabrina attained a BEng(Hons) degree in Mechanical Engineering at Chichester University, subsequently deciding on a minor change in career direction to pursue structural engineering.

Andrew Turner
MANAGING DIRECTOR, GUERNSEY
After reading at Birmingham University, Andrew has since worked in Dubai, UAE, Oman and Iraq, and the UK. His diverse portfolio ranges from Oil & Gas, Leisure, Education to the industrial sectors. He became a Chartered Structural Engineer in 1991 and is accomplished in logistics and project delivery.

Grace Mather

Etienne Wyser
STRUCTURAL ENGINEER
Etienne has been working with T&G throughout his degree studies, gaining valuable knowledge and insight of the full range of local construction issues.
Etienne joined T&G full time after being awarded a Masters in Engineering from Plymouth University. He is working on design and detailing issues for local projects. He has a particular interest in coastal engineering.

Tom Nichols
REVIT TECHNICIAN
Highly focused and dedicated to the engineering profession, Tom is an integral member of T&G’s Guernsey team. His range of skills and experience along with adaptable outlook and approach is widely appreciated by both clients and colleagues and crucially helps maintain the organisation’s focus on quality and responsiveness.
Tom’s present role encompasses a wide range of services and specialisms including measured surveys, crack monitoring, detailing of key structures such as pitched roof rafters, flat roof joists, floor joists and steel beams, alongside detailing of reinforced concrete structures.
He has a high level of proficiency in the AutoCAD software application, with role responsibilities encompassing detailed 2D design drawings. Tom’s practical and project experience ranges from small residential extensions and conversions up to large scale housing developments.
Tom is an Associate Member of the Chartered Association of Building Engineers and an EngTech Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers. He holds a BTEC and a HNC in Construction and the Built Environment. He has worked within the Guernsey construction industry since 2011 and became a professionally qualified engineering technician with the Institute of Civil Engineers (ICE) in 2019.
